I guess we are witnessing the changing of the guard right before our eyes, but that doesn’t mean the end of the Brodeur era.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am not the biggest Brodeur fan but I have my own reasons (they have to deal with going to practices at South Mountain Arena and watching the female fans get better autographs than me – shallow I know, but, I was just a kid).
My personal feelings aside, nothing can take away from the legend that is Martin Brodeur. So many records, so many memories. My own personal favorite memory was the goal he scored in the 1997 playoffs versus the Montreal Canadiens:
One thing I always thought was funny when seeing the clips over and over again was that his teammates were nowhere to be seen to celebrate for quite a while after the goal (except for Shawn Chambers who can be seen celebrating and then leaving Brodeur’s side).
Having had the honor to be in the building for this goal, I know the reason why. There was a brawl ensuing probably brought about by Canadiens player outrage over a goalie scoring on them.
Another part that sticks out is just how happy Brodeur is. It was always a kids game to him. He never took the game too serious and I think that has a great deal to do with why he has been so successful. I am not saying he doesn’t take it seriously, I am saying he knows how to put it in perspective.
Anyway, along with today’s Brodeur wallpaper…
…I have another cool treat. Here is a tee-shirt I designed that is for sale. I think you will find the price is quite reasonable.
I do have to note, they will only be printed if we can sell 20, so if you want one, buy it and then encourage others to do the same.
Here is a closeup of the image on the shirt:
Also, let me know if there are other players you would like a shirt of instead.
I have a few other designs I am playing around with too, so stay tuned.
