Brian Rolst-done? (See What I Did There?)
The Devils have placed Brian Rolston on waivers.
Not a shocking move, really, as the team needs to do something to shake things up.
The Devils won’t benefit finacially if they send Rolston down to the minors, since he has a 35+ contract. However, if they do send him down and put him on re-entry waivers and another team claims him, the Devils would only have to pay half of his salary.
That would clear up about $2.5 million… and free up a roster space for someone who could perform just as good, if not better, for much less, salary-wise.
Would it be shocking if Lou had some sort of verbal agreement with another GM that when Rolston gets put on re-entry waivers, he would be claimed? I wouldn’t be surprised.
The move doesn’t necessarily mean Rolston will be sent down. He could stick around and not miss a game with the Devils at all.
Stay tuned.
