Former Devils Draft Pick Bernard Critically Injured In Car Crash
Former New Jersey Devils draft pick Ashton Bernard has been seriously injured in a car crash.

“Ashton Bernard of 3L seriously injured
The 3L Riviere-du-Loup have learned a very bad news this morning. Indeed, forward Ashton Bernard was seriously injured early this morning in a car accident.
The first reports that the player wants to 3L, a passenger in a vehicle, suffered a fractured skull when the vehicle he was riding in was collided with a tree.
Ashton, first hospital in Cape Breton, was quickly flown to Halifax Hospital where his condition is considered critical, but stable.
“Our thoughts are with our player and we wish a speedy recovery” indicated the Chief 3L, Francis Dubé. “We will keep fans abreast of developments as soon as significant” added Dube.”
Bernard was the Devils 6th round pick in 2009, #174 overall.
He has no points and 44 penalty minutes in eight games played for Rivière-du-Loup 3L this season.

UPDATE: From Jeremy Fraser: Some news on Ashton Bernard, As of 10:30pm (AST), he got out of surgery and is stable for the next 48 hours.
UPDATE (12/10): From former teammate and current Buffalo Sabre Luke Adam: Such great news that my close friend Ashton Bernard is on the road to recovery! Ate food today and walked a little.
