Lamoriello Airs Grievances, Fires MacLean on Festivus
The Festivus pole was hardly up when word came that changes would be made.
On this Festivus morning, Lou Lamoriello aired his grievances early: John MacLean, you have disappointed. You will be removed as coach of the team.
As first reported by Steve Politi on NJ.com, MacLean has been fired as head coach of the last place Devils.
There are reports that Jacques Lemaire, the head coach of the team last season, will be named the interim coach.
UPDATED: The Devils have confirmed that MacLean is out and Lemaire will replace him. You can find the full audio of Lamoriello discussing Maclean’s firing here.
The Devils are tied with the Islanders, tonight’s opponent, for last place in the NHL. The Isles have two games in hand.
Here’s to hoping the rest of today’s Festivus celebration brings us some feats of strength against the team from Long Island.
