SHORT FILM: “Ice Hockey” (featuring Ken Daneyko)
I was contacted by Larry Cohen (IMDB), who is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker, about a short film he wrote and directed.
From his website:
He has worked on “In Treatment” (HBO), “The Philanthropist” (NBC) and upcoming series “Borgia” (Canal Plus).
He has produced projects featured on NPR, HDNet, Guggenheim and Vimeo with Everynone.
His films have been featured at the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), the Big Apple Film Festival and Independent Film Festival Boston.
The email I received from Larry contained a link to his short film titled “Ice Hockey.”
I’m always interested in anything involving hockey, so I was planning on checking it out even before I read the part where he mentioned that New Jersey Devils alum Ken Daneyko and Randy Velischek were in it.
I enjoyed it (how can you not enjoy something involving Ken Daneyko). So I decided to post it here for all of you to check out.
Enjoy.
A day in the life of Danny, a high school hockey defenseman – School, girls, and his next-door neighbor: hockey legend Ken Daneyko.
Starring Josh Gutkin, Jonathan Dayton High School Bulldogs with NJ Devils Alumi Randy Velischek and Ken Daneyko.
Writer & Director Larry Cohen
Producer Timothy Whitney
Director of Photography Andrew J. Whittaker
The film was written during the 2010 Winter Olympics, based on a dream I had about Ken Daneyko — who in my mind, epitomizes Ice Hockey. It features a cast of mostly non-actors, shot on location at the South Mountain Arena and Randolph, NJ. My Grandmother was a diehard Devils fan, till she passed away in 2002. The film is dedicated to her.
