Your Newest New Jersey Devil – David Steckel

With the trade of Jason Arnott to Washington for David Steckel and a 2012 2nd round pick on trade deadline day, the Devils roster is now set for their playoff run.

The trade came with mixed reactions from most fans. While some wanted Arnott to go after it sounded like he had given up on the belief that this team could make a playoff run, others were still nostalgic and didn’t want to see the player who scored the Stanley Cup clinching goal in 2000 gone. Arnott was acquired this past offseason from Nashville.

There were reports right up until 3pm that the trade may not happen because Lou Lamoriello and Jacques Lemaire might have had different feelings towards shipping Arnott out. In the end, the deal was made.
