Brodeur Looks To Tie Terry Sawchuk Tonight

Martin Brodeur will be looking to tie Terry Sawchuk’s shutout record when he faces the New York Rangers tonight.
He will be looking not only to tie Sawchuk’s record of 103 shutouts, but also look to get a win against a team that he has only beaten once in the last 11 regular season games over the last three seasons. Brodeur will also be looking for his 40th win against the Rangers, a team that he has seven career shutouts against.
Brodeur got off to a shaky start this season when the Devils started 0-2 at home. One of those losses was a 3-2 loss to the Rangers. The team has gone 4-1 since then, including 3-0 on the road, where they play tonight.
He has looked stronger with each game of this young season and recorded his 102nd career shutout, against the Hurricanes, this past Saturday night. The team has been off since then.
Brodeur will be playing in his 1,007th game tonight, while Sawchuk set the shutout record in his 968th game.
The active goalies with the most career shutouts after Brodeur are Detroit’s Chris Osgood (49), San Jose’s Evgeni Nabokov (48) and Vancouver’s Roberto Luongo (47).

Not sure if you know this, but I’m pretty damn good!

I wasn’t aware of the statistic that Brodeur had twice as many shut outs as any other goalie in the NHL. That’s pretty good, having a shut out every ten games.

Wow, the team came close against the Cup Champions. The team is improving. But now injuries. The plot thickens.
