Some Love, Some Hate and A New Frenemy

I have to start with a thank you to Puck Daddy for linking to the Atlantic Division roundtable I participated in on View From My Seats. Always nice when PD links to any of the work you are involved with. I also have to send a big thank you to John Fischer over at In Lou We Trust for breaking down my answers on the roundtable, and adding his thoughts in one of his own blogs. It seems we mostly agree (along with those who left comments) on some of the questions surrounding the Devils this coming season. It’s a good sign that most fans/bloggers are in agreement on what to expect this year. I highly recommend checking out his thoughts on the questions I was asked and my answers. Go read it now.

Do It! I’ll wait….

Hey! Welcome back. Worth the read, right? That’s what I thought.

Of course, on the flip side, when you blog about something (anything) and have the option available for comments to be left, there is always a group of individuals who always seem to know better than you. If you scroll to the bottom of the roundtable discussion, you will find a very well written, thought out comment from a Mr. Lorenzo. Lorenzo has a few thoughts on my opinion that Brendan Shanahan will have an impact on the Devils this season. He also thinks, as he so eloquently put it, that… “Carlos,
Your true colors shine through – Your a dweeb…”. Yes indeed. His mastery of grammar aside (you see, it should be “You’re a dweeb…”), he makes a good point. My true colors DO shine through. I’m a Devils fan. If I wasn’t, why would anyone care what I thought of the team this coming season? It just goes to show you that no matter what you write about there is someone, somewhere that THINKS he/she knows better, or just feels the need to say something…anything. How he knew I was a dweeb I will never know.

But that kind of stuff is expected and truthfully, I don’t give a shit. Differing opinions is what makes this fun. I do this because I love hockey and I’m a diehard Devils fan. I do let my true colors shine through.

Which brings me to my newest frenemy…Mr. Howie Sussman. I’ve been talking to Howie on twitter (@howie9416) for a while now, and when he heard that Fanball.com was looking for bloggers, he asked me about it. I gave him all the info he needed, and he is now the Rangers blogger for the Fanball Sports Network. Go ahead and check out his blog. I’m sure Howie and I will have plenty to say to each other, so go ahead and say hi. And be nice…at least until the season starts.

Check yoself!

As far as a player who will breakout in the coming season I do not disagree with Zajac. But, I thought last year was his breakout. He really stepped up and showed he is a future leader of the team. Of course he still needs development, but we now see the potential and have raised expectations.

My choice would be Rolston. Between his injury and not having a set position or line he seemed lost and has not been able to to what he was signed for. With a good ankle and Lemaire putting him at wing (hopefully left) he will breakout and prove he was worth the investment Lou made in him.

    Fingers crossed.

Suddenly “Comedown” by Bush is stuck in my head after seeing that picture.

A Devils blogger who writes from a Devils point of view. WTF?

I thought it was pretty cool that In Lou We Trust broke down your responses. Really, I have to say that I agree with most of what you said. You WERE the only person to NOT pick the defending Stanley Cup champs to win the Division; but it’s to be expected. I mean, you’re true colors were shining through!

I agree that Zajak had his breakout year last season. But, that seems like it might be the only answer! Next summer you’ll have Tedenby to look forward to– but this year it might be Parise and Zajak again. What about Nicklas Bergfors? Is he going to stick with the big club this season?

I think Bergfors might be up and down again. I would like to see him stick, just to finally see what he can do over a full year. Just don’t see it happening…
