Tuesday Links (7/14)- Because There Is No Off-Season In Hockey

July 14th, 2009 | by Carlos Figueiredo |

I’ve been waiting around most of the day hoping the Devils would release their pre-season schedule. I don’t know what came over me thinking this would happen. We are, after all, Speaking of the Devils. (see what I did there?)

What I do know is they will play the team from Manhatten on September 16th at The Rock. 7:00 PM start.

Once the schedule is released, I will post it. The regular season schedule will be released tomorrow at 3PM.

Now, the links:

- The NHL is releasing the regular season schedule tomorrow at Fenway Park, where this years Winter Classic will be held. It looks like there might also be another stadium hockey game this season. The Globe and Mail reportsthat a game will be held in Montreal’s Olympic Stadium to commemorate the Habs centennial. Washington is the reported opponent. Road trip anyone?

- The Chicago Blackhawks today replaced GM Dale Tallon with assistant GM Stan Bowman, son of Blackhawks senior advisor Scotty Bowman. Tallon was reassigned and named a senior advisor of hockey operations.

- The whole Tampa Bay Lightning owners fiasco gets interesting again this Friday when the deadline for owner Len Barrie to come up with $10 million dollars, to prove he can continue funding the team, is up.

- In some Devils news, Petr Vrana, who will play in his native Czech Republic next season, had his NHL rights kept by the Devils.

- And lastly, in more Devils news, the Devils rookie camp continued today with some fighting, and some 2009 draft pick scoring. Looks like a nice crop of good young players. Let’s just hope we don’t have to see them all very soon (that means I hope we sign some other guys).

Still waiting on the pre-season schedule. Will post it once I see it.
