Tuesday Links (6/23)- Because There Is No Off-Season In Hockey

It’s link day. Let’s get right to them, shall we?

- Looks like our old friend Brent Sutter will be named the head coach of the Calgary Flames. You can read this non-story (I mean, is anyone surprised by this?) here.

- Two former Devils, Dave Andreychuk and Alex Mogilny join Brian Leetch, Luc Robitaille, Steve Yzerman and Brett Hull as players in their first year of eligibility for Hall of Fame induction.

- Looks like we might have a Flyers / Bruins matchup as this coming seasons Winter Classic to be held at Fenway Park in Boston. It was thought to be a Washington / Boston game, but looks like the Flyers may end up playing in the game.

- Just thought I would mention that the St Louis Blues re-signed Keith Tkachuk to a one-year deal last week. This blogger will now concentrate on other free agents he would like to see on the Devils. Why must you do this to me Keith?

- Gary Bettman spoke for almost two hours at the NHLPA’s player meetings on Saturday. Among the things he discussed were the NHL’s drug testing policy, and his preference of staying with Versus and NBC over ESPN. 

- We are only three short days away from the NHL Draft, which means the NJ Devils Draft Party. I am counting my pennies now so I can pick up some goodies!

- The only other place I would be besides the Prudential Center on Draft night would be up in Montreal for the Draft NHL Tweetup. If you are able to make it up to Montreal on Friday, I strongly suggest you look into this. There are a fantastic group of people organizing this, an equally fantastic group of people attending, and if I wasn’t so lazy and actually renewed my passport on time, I would have gone up for the festivities. Instead, I will be following all of their updates on Twitter. 

There you have it. A few links to enjoy on this Tuesday. We are right around the corner from the most exciting part of the off-season! Right after the Draft, we have the free-agency period, which begins at 12:01am next Wednesday. It’s the perfect remedy for your NHL withdrawal.
